Curators of Black Media

The curse of generational curses – Dr Boyce Watkins

One of the reasons black families endure generational curses is because in some cases, we’ve failed to embrace our role as teachers of the youth. Because black folks don’t warn their kids about life, you often see families repeating the same mistakes over and over again.

This can include:

Dangers of Alcohol and drug abuse

No economic training to get off the corporate plantation

Unwanted pregnancy and poverty that plagues many single parent households

Unhealthy food that kills us

Not investing and saving for the future to create a solid economic base for the family

Toxic messaging in music that glorifies the thug culture and gets #blackmen sent to prison

Not valuing education

Not teaching our kids how to date and marry quality people who won’t ruin their life with baby mama drama

Building multiple streams of income to avoid family economic drama
