Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced a bill on Wednesday that would award Kyle Rittenhouse the congressional gold medal for ‘protecting the community of Kenosha’.

The jury in Rittenhouse’s case found the 18-year-old innocent on all counts after he shot three people – killing two – in self defense during a Black Lives Matter riot in Wisconsin last year.

The text of the HR6070 reads it is intended ‘[t]o award a Congressional Gold Medal to Kyle H. Rittenhouse, who protected the community of Kenosha, Wisconsin, during a Black Lives Matter (BLM) riot on August 25, 2020.’

If awarded, which there is little chance, this would give Rittenhouse the same medal as the cops who protected the Capitol during the January 6 attack and the troops killed in Kabul.

The ruling in Rittenhouse’s case was highly controversial as progressives deem it proof the criminal justice system is racist and favors white people.

On the other hand, Republicans and pro-Second Amendment groups praised the ruling as a win for the right to bear arms and use them in self defense.

Following the verdict, Rittenhouse has spent time with right-leaning figures including doing an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson and visiting Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

We must always uphold our Constitution, defend our 2A, & stop our enemies who hate them.

The Kyle Rittenhouse Defense Fund Twitter posted an image of the Rittenhouse, his mother Wendy and Trump with the tweet: Thank you, President Trump. It was an honor to meet you. Thank you for supporting the rule of law and the God-given right of self-defense.’

Greene reposted the tweet along with her own comment: ‘Two men I greatly admire along with a mother who has had to endure more than she ever thought she could.’

‘Kyle thanks Pres Trump for two most important things the left is trying to destroy,’ the Georgia Republican lawmaker continued. ‘We must always uphold our Constitution, defend our 2A, & stop our enemies who hate them.’

Donald Trump Jr. has suggested his father, who is no longer president, could award a presidential medal to Rittenhouse.

The former president’s eldest son was mocked for posting an edited image of Trump awarding a presidential medal Rittenhouse.

He captioned the post: ‘2024??? Who knows?’

The Congressional Gold Medal is Congress’ highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions that is awarded to individuals and groups or institutions.

Some notable recipients include golfer Arnold Palmer, The Tuskegee Airmen, baseball player Jackie Robinson, Navajo Code Talkers, Civil Rights figure Rosa Parks, and Ronald and Nancy Reagan.
