Amazon is desperate for new employees. UPS Amazon and FedEx, among others are all desperate for new employees.
Amazon has just announced that they are not only paying over 100,000 new employees $18 an hour, they are also coming back with additional bonuses like a $3000 one time payment, as well as payment of college tuition.
The move by Amazon is big in light of the fact that they are all preparing for an accelerated holiday season of sales.
In many states, Amazon is going to pay over $22 an hour. This is just after saying that they would pay $17 an hour a few months ago.
According to Reuters:
Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) hiked its average starting wage to $18 per hour on Tuesday and said it plans to hire more than 125,000 warehouse and transportation workers in the United States.
The company is hiring to run the 100 logistics facilities it will launch this month in the United States, on top of the more than 250 that opened earlier this year.
